Sir,

I have the honour to report the following case

of detention and interment of a suspect in pursuance of an

Order made by the Governor-in-Council under the False Passports and Suspected Persons Ordinance No. 2 of 1916.

Acting on the telegram copy of which is enclosed

I had the woman named therein arrested and searched by His Britannic Majesty's Consul at Amoy and detained till the depart- -ure of the British ship in which she arrived at Amoy for Swatow where she was transferred to another British ship sailing ·

for this Port.

Nothing incriminating was found on the woman or

in her baggage; but after telling the Police, in whose custody she was placed here, various stories which were not believed, she made the confession copy of which is attached.

The woman was thereupon interned in the female Prison as an alien enemy there being no other suitable place at the time wherein to confine her. She was specially supplied
